K EVANS-GFOA 2024 RECOGNITION AWARD-Enhanced-SR

The City of Bellmead is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its fiscal year 2024 budget. This prestigious award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and represents a significant achievement for the City of Bellmead.

The award reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To receive this award, a government entity must publish a budget document that meets program criteria as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications device. The City of Bellmead's budget was rated "proficient" in all four categories and met the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories.

This is the fifth time in the City’s history that it has earned this award, demonstrating consistent excellence in budget preparation and presentation. The first award was received for the FY 2020 budget document.

Key Highlights:

  • Award Certificate: The GFOA has also presented the City of Bellmead's Finance Department with a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Preparation, acknowledging the instrumental role of the department in achieving this award.
  • National Recognition: Over 1,700 participants take part in the Budget Awards Program. Bellmead’s achievement sets an excellent example for other government units across North America.
  • Award Details: The award is valid for one year, and the City must submit its next budget document within 90 days of the proposed budget's submission to the legislature or final adoption to continue its participation in the program.

The GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award signifies Bellmead's dedication to maintaining high standards in budget transparency and efficiency, serving as a model for other municipalities.
