The Bellmead Building Inspections staff are dedicated to ensuring that all improvements constructed in our city meet the basic requirements of our codes. When work is permitted and inspected, property owners can be confident that projects are completed correctly and safely.
Our inspectors are actively monitoring construction activities every day of the week. We have encountered numerous individuals who bypass building permit applications and inspections. When these violations are discovered, a Stop Work Order is issued. The contractor or property owner must then apply for a permit and pay a double permit fee.
This process is not about generating revenue. It is about ensuring safety and adherence to standards.
For example, in the photo attached, someone attempted to add a new roof structure over an existing house without a permit or engineering calculations. This raised significant safety concerns regarding the building's ability to support the additional weight. Consequently, the work was stopped immediately.
This is just one instance of improper construction practices. Following the proper procedures and obtaining the necessary permits is always the best option for ensuring safety and compliance.
Stay safe and compliant – always obtain the proper permits!
