[ARCHIVED] Help Our Waters Stay Clean with Smart Lawn Care!

Storm Water Lawn Care Practices

Did you know that your lawn care routine can make a big difference in protecting our local waterways?

As part of our commitment to clean water and a healthy environment, we’re encouraging everyone to follow stormwater-wise lawn care tips:

- Go Easy on Fertilizer: Use only what your lawn needs—too much can wash into storm drains and pollute local waterways.

- Mow High, Let It Lie: Taller grass grows deeper roots and helps absorb rainwater. Leave clippings on the lawn for natural fertilizer.

- Sweep, Don’t Spray: Keep sidewalks and driveways clear of lawn clippings and fertilizer with a broom—not a hose.

- Plant Smart: Choose native plants and grasses that require less water and fewer chemicals.

- Rain is Enough: Water your lawn only when needed—early morning or late evening is best!

By adopting these easy practices, you're not just maintaining a beautiful yard—you’re helping your neighborhood and the environment thrive!
