The City of Bellmead is now accepting applications for openings on several City Boards and Commissions! This is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact in your community.
Bellmead’s boards, commissions, and committees play a vital role in local government. Members are appointed by the City Council and typically serve two-year terms. Those appointed to fill a vacancy will serve the remainder of the unexpired term.

Board Openings:
Board of Adjustments:
The City of Bellmead Board of Adjustment was created by ordinance.
Duties and Powers of the Board of Adjustment
Responsible for reviewing appeals, granting variances, and approving special exceptions related to the city's zoning ordinance. It considers cases where strict enforcement of zoning rules would cause practical difficulties or hardship due to unique property conditions, such as unusual lot shape or topography. The Board may also allow specific exceptions, like transitional uses between zoning districts, temporary permits in undeveloped areas, or modifications to lot and yard requirements when necessary for appropriate development. Its decisions must be based on evidence and sworn testimony, documented with written findings, and must not negatively affect public welfare, safety, or property values.
Planning and Zoning Commission
The City of Bellmead Planning and Zoning Commission was created by Ordinance.

- Members: 6 Members
- Meetings: 6:30 pm – 3rd Tuesday of every month
- Board Term: Two Years
- Ordinance: Chapter 15. Article II. - Code of Ordinances
- Qualifications: Resident of the City of Bellmead, taxpayer, qualified voter of the city.
Duties and Powers of the Planning and Zoning Commission
The planning and zoning commission shall make and recommend for adoption a master plan as a whole or in parts, for the future development and redevelopment of the city. Prepare a comprehensive plan and ordinance for zoning/rezoning the city. Perform other duties as may be prescribed by ordinance or state law.
Parks and Recreation Committee
The City of Bellmead Parks and Recreation Board was created by ordinance to advise the city council and make recommendations regarding the parks and recreation facilities.

- Meetings: 3rd Monday quarterly
- Board Term: Two Years

Duties and Powers of the Parks and Recreation Committee
The Parks and Recreation Board will act in an advisory capacity to the Bellmead City Council.
The parks and recreation board shall observe and analyze the operation of city parks and recreational facilities, as well as recreational opportunities within the city, and may:
- Make recommendations to the city council for rules and regulations relating to proper and efficient conduct of public recreation and park affairs;
- Make recommendations to the city council regarding ideas for special events;
- Make recommendations regarding changes to or improvement of park operations;
- Make recommendations to the city council for the creation of new or revised recreational or cultural activities that will enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Bellmead;
- Recommend new parks and/or recreational facilities.
