James Cleveland was appointed to the Bellmead City Council on December 11, 2018, to fill the unexpired term of Mark Pace and then elected in November 2020. Councilman Cleveland was re-elected in May 2022 and in May 2024. Councilman Cleveland's term expires May 2026.

James Cleveland served as Mayor from May 2020 to May 2021 and has been selected by his fellow Council Members to serve as Mayor for a second time from May 2024 to May 2025. 

James was born in Waco, Texas, and graduated from Bosqueville High School. James has worked in the welding industry for the past 20 years and he has been a resident of Bellmead for 21 years.

He and his wife, Shirley, have three children, two daughters, and a son. James enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with family.

James says, "I am determined to work hard and make a difference for the citizens of Bellmead in Precinct 3".
