Mr. Zakhary joined the City of Bellmead as Interim City Manager on January 23, 2019, and was subsequently appointed as the permanent City Manager on April 20, 2020. With nearly 40 years of comprehensive experience in the municipal field, his career has been marked by unwavering dedication and transformative leadership.
Yost's illustrious journey began as a volunteer firefighter/dispatcher, where he laid the foundation for his remarkable career in public safety. His service in various roles within Woodway's public safety department culminated in his promotion to the rank of Public Safety Director in 1985. In 2001, Yost was appointed as Woodway City Manager and Public Safety Director, overseeing all city departments while reporting directly to the city council.
Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Zakhary has exemplified a commitment to academic excellence. He earned his Masters in Public Policy and Administration from Baylor University, further enhancing his ability to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical experience in municipal governance. Additionally, he is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and has shared his wealth of knowledge as an adjunct professor at both Baylor University and McLennan Community College.
