Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS)

  • Our City retirement plan is offered through the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS). 
  • Employees contribute 7% of their pre-tax earnings. 
  • After 5 years of employment, you become vested. 
  • The City matches your contributions on a 2 to 1 basis. 
  • Employees are eligible for retirement either at any age with 25 years of service, or age 60 with 5 years of service. 
  • Register on Texas Municipal Retirement System website for account management and retirement projections. 

Certification/Education Pay:

  • City employees may be eligible to receive additional compensation for obtaining qualifying certifications and education levels.
  • Certification must be maintained in an active status to receive compensation.
  • Certification and education pay amounts are subject to annual budget considerations and approved by City Council during the Annual Budget session.
  • Eligible employees are compensated based on the highest level of certification or education held.
