Municipal Court
All municipal court transactions and/or appearances will be completed at Bellmead City Hall (3015 Bellmead Drive).
Mission
To provide a neutral, courteous, and fair forum for all Class C misdemeanor offenses arising under Texas civil and criminal statutes and city ordinances and providing for the efficient and timely adjudication of court cases.
This Court and its officers are dedicated to the principles of impartiality, fairness, integrity, separation of powers, and judicial independence and is committed in its role as the Judicial Branch of local government.
Judicial complaints may be filed with the State Commission on Judicial Conduct.
Appearances
A phone call does not constitute as an appearance. You will need to appear in person or by mail. You have 10 days to make an appearance before the court regarding the charge(s) filed against you. Failure to respond to your charge(s) within your 10 days may result in an another charge and warrant an extra $50 fee added to your charge(s).
Please note: The court/appearance date is on your citation.
Court staff will set docket dates at least one-time per month for arraignment, juvenile arraignment, indigent, and/or show cause hearings. These dates are set according to the presiding judge's availability. Pre-trial hearings and trial docket dates will be set by court staff as needed and according to the presiding judge's and/or prosecutor's availability. If you are required or request to be set for one of these hearings, you will be notified in writing of the court date and time. Continuance policies will be strictly enforced. Failure to appear will result in additional charges, warrants, and a hold or suspension of your driver's license.
Juveniles & Minors
You are required to appear before the Municipal Court Judge in open court if on the date of the offense:
- You were under 17 years of age charged with a traffic offense
- You were under the age of 21 charged with an alcohol offense
- You were under the age of 21 charged with a tobacco offense
You will be notified of all court appearances in writing. Any juvenile under the age of 17 must appear with a parent or legal guardian. You are obligated to notify the court immediately of any changes in your contact information.
Youth Diversion
If you are between 10 and 16 years of age and are charged with a non-traffic offense, you will be set for a youth diversion eligibility interview with the youth diversion coordinator. Youth diversion is an opportunity for the juvenile to enter into a diversion program that allows for the resolution of the offense(s) prior to being formally charged in criminal court. You will be notified of this appointment in writing. You must appear with a parent or legal guardian. Failure to appear will result in the case being filed in court and require an appearance before the judge. You are obligated to notify the court immediately of any changes in your contact information. You can find a copy of the youth diversion plan under the related documents section of this page. Any questions regarding youth diversion may be directed to the youth diversion coordinator.
Trial
If you wish to enter a plea of not guilty and desire a trial, you may do so in person or by mail, on or before your 10 day appearance date. You may request a trial by judge or jury, and you will be notified by the court when you must appear for pre-trial and any other required procedures.
Request for Deferred Disposition
If you want to request Deferred Disposition, you may do so in our online payment center. Please note that not all violations are eligible to apply for a deferred disposition online. If you have a violation that is not eligible for an online deferred disposition, please contact the court for more information.
Weapons and Consent to Search
Pursuant to Section 46.03 of the Texas Penal Code, the possession of any firearm, illegal knife, club, or any prohibited weapon set for the in Section 46.05(a), Texas Penal Code, in the Municipal Court building, any courtroom, or office utilized by the Municipal Court is strictly prohibited. Violations of this law can range up to a Third Degree Felony.
All persons who enter the Municipal Court, any courtroom, or any office utilized by the Municipal Court of the City of Bellmead are subject to search of their person and their belongings. All persons who enter said premises consent to the search of their person and their belongings for prohibited weapons.
