This initiative is designed to enhance the appearance and curb appeal of commercial properties in Bellmead. About the Facade Improvement Grants Program

Our Facade Improvement Grants Program is aimed at encouraging property owners and business tenants to enhance the visual appeal of their storefronts and buildings. By participating, you can access financial assistance to make exterior improvements such as:

  • New Signage: Upgrade your business signage for better visibility.
  • Lighting: Install energy-efficient lighting to brighten up your storefront.
  • Paint and Repairs: Give your building a fresh coat of paint and address structural issues.
  • Accessibility: Make your property more accessible to everyone.

Facade grants are available on a 50/50 matching basis with a cap of $10,000 per facade adjacent to a public street, with a maximum of two facades eligible per grant.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Facade Improvement Grants, you must meet certain criteria, including:

  • Property or business location within Bellmead city limits on Bellmead Drive, Loop 340, or Old Dallas Highway.
  • Property free of city liens, delinquent property taxes, and code violations.
  • Applicant must not be past due in sales tax remittance.
  • Building/site must be for commercial use in -non-residential zoning districts.
  • Compliance with zoning and building codes.
  • Applicant must submit a complete application for review and cannot begin work until written approval and award notice is provided.

Application Process

  1. Prepare a detailed proposal for your facade improvements and submit a completed Facade Grant Application with photos to the Director of Community Development. 
  2. The EDC will review and approve your project based on eligibility and adherence to guidelines.
  3. The city will communicate action to applicant following approval/disapproval by the EDC.
  4. In approved, the city will contact the applicant with a written notification to proceed pending a signed and returned contract.
  5. Permits must be pulled and work related to the grant application may commence.
  6. The City of Bellmead Building Inspector will conduct a final inspection to ensure the project meets standards.
  7. Applicant provides to city all paid invoices/proof of payment related to the project and photos of the completed project.
  8. Grant payment is made to the applicant.
